Just
behind the Parco Naturale Vendicari, on a gentle coastal slope where
the summer reigns even in winter, our vineyards thrive, surrounded
by splendid almond and citrus groves, Ciliegino tomato and cantaloup
fields. The lovely Isola delle Correnti appears on the horizon.
Not far away, on the banks
of the Tellaro river, in the Eloro land, lie the remnants of a sumptuous
Roman Villa with splendid mosaics illustrating scenes from Homer’s
Hiliad and Odyssey. Most certainly, along with the Falerno, the
Cyprian and the Cretan wines, the Eloro must have been a favorite
of the villa owner – thought to have been an important magistrate
of the Empire.
